How Invisalign Works

The first step of the entire process is the consultation, which is when we will learn all about your dental history, needs, and goals to determine if you’re a good candidate. If you are, then we will take impressions of your teeth and have a custom series of aligners made to guide them into their ideal positions. Usually, the entire process takes 12-18 months, but there are some cases when patients only need 4-8 months to achieve the results they desire.

Who Invisalign Can Help

As we mentioned above, more than 17 million patients have chosen Invisalign. So, it’s safe to say that the aligners are quite versatile! In fact, they can address several common orthodontic problems, including:

Crowded Teeth

Unfortunately, overcrowding can lead to everything from low self-esteem to trouble chewing properly. There is good news, though: Invisalign clear aligners can address mild to moderate cases (usually quicker than traditional braces, too!).

Gaps Between Teeth

The opposite problem (too much space between your teeth) can also take a toll on your confidence and oral health. That’s why we recommend scheduling a consultation with us! The sooner you do, the sooner we can determine if you’re a good candidate.

Bite Alignment

In addition to being able to correct overcrowding and spacing issues, Invisalign can correct overbites, open bites, underbites, and crossbites. So, don’t just assume that metal braces are your only option!

Benefits of Invisalign

Millions of patients have chosen clear aligners over traditional braces. If you are considering doing the same, then you may find it helpful to learn a few of the many benefits that come with Invisalign in Longmeadow. Fortunately, this next section is dedicated to just that!

Shorter Average Treatment Timeline

Typically, traditional braces take 2-3 years. If you want a straighter smile for a special event, like your wedding, then you may not have that long to wait. Fortunately, the average treatment timeline with Invisalign is only 12-18 months. So, if you schedule your consultation within the next week or so, there’s a good chance that you can have the results you desire by this time next year!

The Aligners Are Basically Invisible

Of course, one of the most obvious benefits of this smile-enhancing treatment is that the aligners are basically invisible. As a result, you won’t have to worry about metal brackets and wires stealing the spotlight. Instead, you can smile with complete confidence knowing that your braces won’t draw any unwanted attention to it.

Taking Care of Your Smile Is Easy

Since metal brackets and wires are bonded in place, patients often need to buy special oral hygiene tools, like interproximal toothbrushes. Fortunately, that’s not necessary with Invisalign. In fact, since the aligners are removable, you don’t have to change your dental care regimen at all! Just make sure that you clean your trays with a soft-bristle toothbrush and clear, mild dishwashing liquid as well.

You Can Eat Your Favorite Foods

In an effort to prevent broken brackets and wires, patients with traditional braces are asked to avoid raw carrots, hard pretzels, and other crunchy foods. With Invisalign, that isn’t necessary. The only strict rule is that you need to remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water. Outside of that, all we ask is that you eat mostly healthy, well-balanced meals so your teeth and gums stay healthy throughout your orthodontic treatment.

There Are Fewer Progress Visits

Monthly progress visits may be hard to commit to if you’re a busy parent, student, or professional. Fortunately, Invisalign requires less time in the treatment chair. We’ll give you several sets of aligners at a time so you can progress through portions of the teeth-straightening journey at home. Then, every 6-8 weeks, you’ll come to our office so we can make sure you’re on track with your treatment plan and, if you are, give you the next batch of trays in the series.

There Aren’t Any Metal Components

Obviously, metal-free braces are more aesthetically pleasing. They are also considerably more comfortable! Plus, if any soreness or discomfort arises from the movement of your teeth, you can use a cold compress, sip on cool water, and take OTC pain medication as directed to help.

How Much Does Invisalign Cost?

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer about the cost because there isn’t a one-size-fits-all treatment plan. In order to determine how much your Invisalign treatment will cost, we need to first get an in-depth understanding of the complexity of your case, including how many aligners need to be made. Then, we can provide you with an estimate of the price and discuss the financial solutions available at our Longmeadow office, including dental insurance and flexible financing.
